SUMMARY OF PROJECTS PENDING FUNDING
By working hand in hand with various communities within Kumbo Central, KUDOC has identified high priority projects that need immediate attention. KUDOC is constantly seeking funding for these projects. If you can help KUDOC secure funding or help fund any of these projects, please do not hesitate to make a donation or contact KUDOC.
  1. Construction of 3 culverts at TOBIN

    Debrief

    The state of the roads in Kumbo is deplorable and Tobin is not left out of this malaise. The 3 culverts that KUDOC is looking for funding to construct are located in the quarters of Bahjing, Tonnoe and Faah. These culverts will be expected to help the populations in these quarters have better access the town for other businesses and to get the necessary day to day provisions.
    Budget

    The estimated budget for these culverts stands at 900.000 FCFA (About 1750 USD or 900 £). This project is expected to take a period of 45 days.
  2. Community Hall roofing project at To-oy

    Debrief

    The populations of To-oy village have identified their immediate need to be the construction of a community hall. KUDOC is in partnership with the community in the execution of this project and the community in the agreement will construct the building and KUDOC seeks for funds to roof the building.
    Budget

    This part of the project will cost KUDOC a sum of 750.000 FCFA (1450 USD or 750 £) and it is expected to take 15 days.
  3. Orphans/underprivileged children support programme

    Debrief

    This programme which KUDOC has been running for the past 3 years have seen some 25 students supported through the payment of fees and provision of some basic text books. KUDOC intends to increase the number of students supported each year progressively. This year we are seeking for funds to provide fees and some books for 10 secondary school students and books for 20 primary school pupils. This will go a long way to help these orphans acquire the necessary education they need to be successful in life.
    Budget

    The budget for the programme this year is set at 500.000 FCFA (about 1000 USD or 500 £) which will help to pay full fees for 10 secondary school orphans (15.000 FCFA per orphan) and 10.000FCFA books and uniforms subsidy. For the primary pupils each orphan or underprivileged child admitted under the programme this year is expected to receive 10.000 FCFA for education sponsorship. The remaining 50.000 FCFA will go into the running cost of the programme.
  4. Reinforcement and Extension of the Hydroelectricity schemes of Kikoo and Kingomen

    Debrief

    The hydroelectricity projects in the villages of Kingomen and Kikoo have been quite a success as it is much talked about in the province and in the country at large. Twenty-two and fifteen households in Kingomen and Kikoo respectively are benefiting for these projects and there has been a strong call from the population for their reinforcement. It is unfortunate that the plants have reached their maximum production capacity and KUDOC is still looking for funding to reinforce these plants for further extension throughout the whole villages. We are expecting that if the needed funds are raised, then at least 120 more households in each of these villages will be connected to this source of clean energy supply.
    Budget

    The project budget for the reinforcement at the plant at Kingomen stands at 22.000.000 FCFA (about 41.950 USD or 22.000 £). The project is expected to raise a monthly 750.000 FCFA for the village which the village project management committee and village development committee will be able to use in funding other development projects within the village. For the Village of Kikoo, the project estimated budget stands at 21.000.000 FCFA (about 40.000 USD or 21.000 £). Each of the projects will be expected to take a period of seven (7) months.
  5. Farm to market road at Nkuv village

    Debrief

    In Cameroon the problem of roads in rural areas is one of the majors causes of poverty. There exist rural communities with very high agricultural productive potentials but the lack of a roads pushes these people further and further into poverty. The village of Nkuv is a typical example of such a community with high productivity potentials but hindered by the problem of a road. The provision of a road that connects these people and the rest of the division will be an ultimate break through that will see the population not only being able to evacuate their farm produce but will have a good number of traders being able to reach them to buy their produce. If this should happen, then the people will have their purchasing power increased and subsequently their living standards improved.
    Budget

    This project will consist of excavating the 40Km road and building of 6 culverts and 4 bridges. These will be done through the renting of bulldozers and all necessary machines. The estimated budget for this project is 98.000.000 FCFA (about 186.700 USD or 96.000 £).
  6. Farm to market road at Ndzeen Village

    Debrief

    The village of Ndzeen like Nkuv also suffers from the same problem of lack of means to evacuate farm produce and other marketable materials from the area. The 20 Km stretch that this project aims at excavating will bring about hope of a means of not only farm to market connection but also a means to reach the Shisong hospital in case of ill health.
    Budget

    The estimated amount for this project stands at 45.000.000 FCFA (about 85.715 USD or 45.000 £), which will go into the renting of equipment and the construction of 4 culverts and 3 bridges.
  7. Completion of the pipe borne water supply project at Bahjing

    Debrief

    Water is the first basic necessity of life but the availability of portable pipe born water for the population of Bahjing is still a dream to come. There have been concerted effort to provide these people with portable water. The efforts have to been completed for the aims of the aims of the water supply project to be met.
    Budget

    The budget for the completion of this project is fixed at 500.000 FCFA (about 955 USD or 500 £) which will be used to build the stands pipes and buy more pipes for the distribution of the water.
  8. Donation of trash cans to the Kumbo Urban Council

    Debrief

    The waste problems of the Kumbo municipality have become a cause for concern. The amount of non degradable waste that the people leave in the environment in gradually increasing and signaling a future threat to agriculture as this will greatly reduce soil fertility in the nearest future. KUDOC deem it necessary to join the Kumbo urban council in this fight through the provision of 25 trash cans top the council for positioning in strategic areas within the municipality.
    Budget

    The estimated budget for this project stand at 350.000 FCFA (about 670 USD or 350 £) this will go into the purchase of old used drums that will be cut and painted to produce the public trash cans.
  9. Green schools project

    Debrief

    Green schools project is all about environmental education of pupils and students within Kumbo district through a practical approach. This project is aimed at teaching environmental practices amongst pupils and students by permitting them build a comfortable learning environment through the planting of grass and environmentally friendly trees within their school campuses.
    Budget

    This project is expected to start with 5 pilot schools of which are 2 primary schools and 3 secondary schools. The pilot phase is expected to cost 1.000.000 FCFA (about 1905 USD or 1000 £)
  10. Renovation of Catholic school Mbovingom

    Debrief

    Education is the greatest thing an individual can be offered. In order to be well educated, children need to study in an appropriate environment for better learning. The role played by the church in education in Cameroon and especially in rural areas such as in the village of Mbovingom is quite remarkable. The state of the Catholic primary School in this village calls for concern as the roofs have become porous due to age and the floors transformed into a plateau of small craters.
    Budget

    To be able to renovate this school, a total of 2.000.000 FCFA (about 3810 USD or 2.000 £) will be needed to replace the old roofs and repair the bad floors.
  11. Construction of 2 classrooms at the Baptist school at Shukai

    Debrief

    Not only the Catholic schools are in difficulties to offer a conducive learning environment, but also the Baptist run school of the village of Shukai. The construction of two (2) additional classrooms has been identified by the PTA and the Baptist convention as the prime problem for this primary school. It is in this light that KUDOC has undertaken in the design and fund seeking for the construction of 2 classrooms for this rural primary school.
    Budget

    The budget outline for the success of this project is 5.000.000 FCFA (about 9525 USD or 5.000 £)
  12. Construction of bridge at Tsen-Melim

    Debrief

    A bridge is one of the most difficult obstacles encountered in road construction and could make a road completely out of use if it is not constructed where it is supposed to pass. The bridge at Tsen-Melim is one of such that is hindering the use of this road.
    Budget

    The budget for this project stand at 2.800.000 FCFA (about 5.350 USD or 2.800 £)
  13. Construction and equipping of health unit at Njavnyuy

    Debrief

    The health unit at Njavnyuy has been identified by this community as a means to first aid within their4 community and the health unit, which is expected to be attached to the community hall, will serve for first aid treatment and minor hospitalisation. It is expected to be equipped with some beds and medicines of common diseases around.
    Budget

    The expected budget to carry out this project has been estimated at 3.000.000 FCFA (about 5.715 USD or 3.000 £).
  14. Renovation of the pipe borne water supply project at Njavnyuy

    Debrief

    The water supply project at Njavnyuy has almost been completed but still needs to see some work done to meets the goal that was originally set. There are still some quarters, which have not been served with, stand taps, which is the primary goal of this project.
    Budget

    The budget for the completion of this project is fixed at 3.000.000 FCFA (about 5.715 USD or 3.000 £).

Electricity Schemes

Road Excavation
Farm-to-market roads in rural communities within Bui Division are seriously underdeveloped. Good farm-to-market roads can go a long way in improving the livelihood of the farmers by allowing them to move their produce to the markets.
