Introduction
Energy shortage in an envisage problem by nations worldwide and Cameroon is not left out
of this future trouble. That is why hydroelectricity supply for rural communities and
institutions such as health centres is a sector of major priority to KUDOC.
Through the intelligence of the head of the technical department of KUDOC, we were able to
launch the pilot phase of this project that today is one of the major axis of the organisation.
This pilot phase was also designed to be the test phase. The goal of this phase was to be able
to generate clean renewable energy.

Verifying the objectives.
In order to generate clean renewable energy, we did set certain objectives to attain,
which included the building of a dam, the construction of a turbine, acquisition of pipes
and high-tension cables, and all the necessary electrical items needed. The second objective was
to supply electricity to 15 households. It is very encouraging to say that KUDOC realised more than
what it had set as objectives. Today, 22 households are served with electricity from this project
and the project has been running for 3 years now.
The way forward
The pilot phase of this project has been very successful as more than 120 people do enjoy
the benefits. There has been more and more demands coming up to KUDOC for the extension of
the electricity so it can reach more and more people in the village but due to lack of funds,
KUDOC has not been able to meet up this demand. What we are looking up to is to source funds
that will be able not only to reinforce the existing installations and make electricity
available to more villagers, but also to set up a training pool for young people who will
assure the needed human resource for our hydroelectricity projects and also create employment.
